For fans of water skiing and windsurfing, hotels in Spain can make the perfect holiday destination. The island of Majorca could be a particularly good find for those in a search for hotels, owing to its location on the balmy Mediterranean Sea.
Hugely popular with tourists, Majorca holds many attractions. Being surrounded by 200km of sea, it is a haven for people for who love being in the water. Meanwhile, its historical intrigues, diverse landscape and vibrant nightlife make it a destination suffused with charm.
Those staying in all inclusive hotels in Majorca will find themselves spoilt for choice when it comes to water skiing and windsurfing beaches. Virtually all offer some kind of related facilities, meaning little effort needs to go into planning where you will spend your days.
However, the beaches at Pollensa and Alcudia are particularly good for windsurfing, home to several schools of the sport between them, as well as several places in which equipment can be hired.
The town of Pollensa is an attractive place to explore while you’re not enjoying the water, especially if you are looking for a relaxing rather than an active afternoon.
However, if it is a vibrant city you are after, head to the island’s capital – Palma. Famed for its lively nightlife, Palma is home to a host of thronging bars and clubs that will keep you occupied and entertained into the small hours. And as almost half of Majorca’s population live in the city, you can guarantee you will be in the heart of the hustle and bustle.
Despite its night owl reputation, Palma does have a quieter side. The Old Town is an essential place to visit for holidaymakers keen to explore some of the island’s history. At its entrance can be seen the La Seu cathedral, while the town itself is characterised by reams of narrow, winding streets lined with fascinating old buildings.
Holidaymakers can also head to the Arab Baths to learn more about the city’s history. Indeed, this site is one of the few indicators of its Moorish past. Dating back to the 11th century, the baths are Byzantine in design. The Ca’n Fontirroig gardens, which are part of the grounds, are home to a variety of wildlife and well worth exploring.
Not be outdone by its architectural feats, the island’s natural beauty is also something to marvel at – especially on foot or by bicycle. Walks and rides can be taken along the scenic coast and through Majorca’s two mountain ranges – in the east, Sierra de Levante and Sierra de Tramuntana in the north-west.
Meanwhile, the island is home to some 15 golf courses, all boasting picturesque surroundings. So, if you also enjoy golf – or just want to try your hand at a new sport – there is no shortage of opportunities to do so when staying in Majorca.
The largest of the Balearic Islands, you can be sure that Majorca is the ideal destination for water sports fans. Being located on the Mediterranean Sea means you will enjoy clear and warm waters, while virtually all the beaches support various water sports, meaning you can get out on the waves whenever you please.
And with so many other activities on offer and things to see, there is no chance of getting bored when staying in all inclusive hotels in Majorca.
