Preparations For Chennai Open 2009 ATP Tennis Tournament

Chennai Open Tennis 2009 is scheduled to take place from Monday 5 January to Saturday 10 January, 2009. The qualifying rounds will take place on 3rd and 4th January 2009. The tournament will consist of Singles and Doubles, and the announced singles have already been made known, with some of the world’s top tennis players competing against each other for the $450,000 prize money at stake.

The line-up includes Nikolay Vladimirirovich Davydenko who is considered as the top ranked male player for Russia, 5th in the world and winner of fourteen ATP singles titles, Stanislas Wawrinka from Switzerland who is currently ranked 13th in the world and was a finalist in Rome Masters and is a Doubles gold medalist from Beijing Olympics and Carlos Moya who was the runner up for Costa do Sauipe and Bucharest as well as the Chennai tennis champion in 2004 and 2005.

Line-up continues with Rafael Nadal the top seeded Spaniard currently ranked as worlds no. 1, Ivo Karlovic from Croatia who has won four ATP Singles titles and ranked 26th in the world, Ivan Ljubicic from Croatia ranked 38th in the world, Marin Cilic also from Croatia who is ranked 23rd in the world, Rainer Schuettler from Germany ranked 33rd in the world, Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes who will return to play with their respective partners Mark Knowles from Bahamas and Lukas Dlouhy from Czech Republic.

Many more well known players like Janko Tipsarevic from Serbia, Marcel Granollers from Spain, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez from Spain and Fabio Fognini from Italy will compete as well along with several others.

These tennis stars will take the centre-stage at 2009 Chennai Open, bringing you one of the most competitive fields ever in the events history. Bryan brothers Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan who are world number one doubles duo and Beijing Olympic bronze medallists were also confirmed to play at the Chennai Open 2009 tournament, but have withdrawn their participation owing to an injury to Bob.

Out of these, 8 players in the Chennai Open 2009 tournament are ranked in the worlds top 50 tennis players, which is what will make this event more interesting and exciting. Another thing which makes the upcoming tournament more powerful and impressive is that as many as 15 participating players are part of the worlds top 100 players.
